The Hennepin Canal Parkway has become a cyclist's paradise and an exceptional spot for fishing, birding, horseback riding and a wealth of outdoor recreation. Experience the many natural and historical Princeton Gateway waypoints along the picturesque Illinois River Road National Scenic Byway. Visitors are welcome at the Bureau County Metro Center, an impressive 52,000 sq ft recreational center containing basketball & volleyball courts, indoor swimming, racquetball courts, weightlifting facilities, an elevated walking/running track, a cardio room and locker facilities complete with sauna.

Captain Swift Covered Bridge
Located off of Fairground Road/Epperson on Township Rd. 1600 N. Completed and opened to the public in 2007. Construction was identical to that used on covered bridges a century ago, and visitors may drive through and see the massive wooden beams and arches.

Red Covered Bridge
Located at City County Park, just north of I-80 on IL Route 26. One of the few remaining covered bridges in Illinois. Nature and walking paths.
